This Autumn term, children will be learning all about the First World War where we will be looking at life in the trenches and exploring the experiences of different types of people during wartime. This will include a visit from ‘Living History’ so that we can experience real artefacts, including uniforms worn during this time.
The class text that we will be reading and linking with our writing lessons is ‘Skellig’ by David Almond. Within English lessons, we will be looking at writing engaging narratives as well as writing classic poetry using figurative language.
Later this term, children will also be learning about ‘Austria’ to enhance their geographical skills.
In Science, we will be focussing on ‘Healthy Living’ where we will be learning about the heart and the circulatory system, as well as how to keep our bodies healthy. We will be performing an experiment which will involve measuring pulse rate to investigate the effects of exercise on the heart. Later in the term, we will be learning all about electricity and building electrical circuits, investigating changes that may affect the various components.
Swimming for 6A is Monday (boys only) and Thursday (girls only). PE is on Friday; please ensure that your child brings their PE kit in every week!
New homework will be handed out on a Friday and should be completed and brought back into school by Friday of the following week.
Thank you for your support!
